![Security Breach of the Day: An “Asian looking male” in his early 20s somehow managed to board an Air Canada flight, and make it all the way from Hong Kong to Vancouver, disguised as an elderly Caucasian man. He was intercepted by the Canada Border Services Agency upon landing in Canada, at which point he “proceeded to make a claim for refugee protection.”
From CNN:
The agency would not discuss when or why the man put on the disguise or details about how he boarded the plane. But the alert indicated that the suspect boarded the plane with a board pass belonging to another passenger.
“It is believed that the subject and the actual United States Citizen passenger (whose date of birth is 1955) performed a boarding pass swap, with the subject using an Aeroplan card as identification to board the flight,” the alert said.
He is currently being detained by the CBSA pending a complete investigation into the incident.

It’s a totally legit news story for CNN or anyone else (we’ll get to NBC in a moment) to zoom in on this or that dramatic and hear-rending rescue of one or another victim trapped in rubble. But every one of those stories is also a stark and rather sickening reminder of how the daily pre-earthquake deaths, starvation and deprivation were considered SO non-newsworthy.
What if CNN made a decision to send the staff of 40 reporters and producers it currently has in Haiti to go to a different Third World country for intensive reporting every ten days as as part of three-year Special Project to help its audience learn about the Real World?
